Welcome to Odyom Bull Terriers based in Surrey and within reasonable proximity to the A3, M3, M4 and M25. First and foremost, all of my dogs are members of the family and secondly, some are or will be campaigned in Open and Championship Shows throughout the United Kingdom.
The Kennel Club granted affix ODYOM (pronounced Od-Yom) is an anagram of the family surname MOODY and is also made up of two Hebrew words OD (another) and YOM (day); another day is particularly important to keep in mind when competing in shows. Whatever the result there will always be another day!
I believe that owning a Bull Terrier is a privilege and attached to it are certain important responsibilities: keeping and promoting a healthy dog through positive, social interaction; good diet and exercise; in public and in private cleaning up after your dog immediately and disposing of waste in a hygienic fashion; undertaking appropriate health tests with puppies (BAER testing, etc); only breeding from health tested and healthy parents; undertaking the micro-chipping and registering of all dogs in one's possession; providing appropriate and timely veterinary care for any ailments and ensuring that your dog is always an excellent ambassador for the breed.
My late father was a life-long Bull Terrier enthusiast and regaled me with stories of Bull Terriers for as long as I can remember. His special memory was of being at Crufts in 1972 and seeing the only Bull Terrier to date, Ch. Abraxas Audacity, win the title of Best in Show. This breed demands much from its owners and in return repays this demand with unlimited love and devotion. I have been very fortunate to have been guided and advised by people within the breed who possess exceptional knowledge, skill and experience. Their guidance and support continues to this day.
If you should embark on the journey to becoming an owner of a Bull Terrier the only words of caution I can offer are those provided by Rudyard Kipling in his poem "The Power of the Dog"
"Brothers and sisters, I bid you beware
Of giving your heart to a dog to tear."
